Two people were arrested by the state police as part of the investigation into the armed robbery which took place last December 22nd in the Toys Center store in via De Nava, in Reggio Calabria.
The precautionary custody order in prison was carried out on 11 March by the investigators of the IV section of the Flying Squad, on the orders of the Judge for preliminary investigations of the Court of Reggio Calabria, as part of an investigation coordinated by the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Reggio Calabria. The two recipients of the measure are both originally from and resident in the capital of Reggio Emilia.
The robbery in the shop on via De Nava
According to what was reconstructed by the investigators, the two men arrived at the scene on board a stolen scooter, on which a license plate belonging to another vehicle, also of illicit origin, had been applied. Once they entered the shop with their faces covered by a balaclava, they allegedly threatened the employees with a gun, forcing them to open the safe. The robbers then took possession of around 45 thousand euros in cash.
During the action they also stole an employee’s mobile phone, with the aim of preventing her from contacting the police. After the attack, the two apparently fled using the same motorcycle, initially losing track.
The investigations of the Flying Squad
The investigations conducted by the Flying Squad, under the coordination of the Prosecutor’s Office, made it possible to reconstruct the movements of the alleged perpetrators before and after the robbery. The analysis of numerous public and private video surveillance systems was crucial, the videos of which were cross-referenced with other investigative insights, including stakeouts, local control services and technical investigations by the Scientific Police. The investigative activity led to the identification of the two suspects, considered seriously suspected of the crime of aggravated robbery.
Part of the loot recovered
During the execution of the precautionary order, the investigators also found part of the money from the robbery in the possession of one of the two suspects. According to investigators, the robbery was organized and planned down to the smallest detail.
