“The expropriation restriction must be removed.” The inhabitants of the Candeloro neighborhood continue to keep their attention high on the actions of Palazzo San Giorgio. The municipal administration intends to transform the neighborhood that will host the Maritime Museum and this project also includes the expropriation of some homes to make room for green areas overlooking the sea. The owners, around ten families, who live in the Candeloro neighborhood have been fighting for months through the lawyer Natale Polimeni, to try to block the 23 million euro project while also presenting a counter-proposal to prevent “the neighborhood from being bulldozed to create a promenade up to the Sea Museum”.
From a bureaucratic point of view, the project has suffered a setback in recent weeks, because the TAR accepted the appeal of one of the companies that had been excluded from the tender. The ruling of the Administrative Court therefore requires the municipal administration to call a new tender. According to what we have learned, however, the date on which the envelopes with the proposals for the design will be opened has not yet been set. A postponement that gives residents the opportunity to think about the next moves and try to block the expropriations.
