The escalation in the Middle East shakes European financial markets right from the start of the day. The attacks on refineries and gas infrastructures have an immediate impact on stock markets and energy.

European price lists in red

In Frankfurt the Dax lost 1.45% to 23,160 points. Paris also fell, with the Cac 40 at -1.23% at 7,871 points, while London recorded a decline of 0.99% at 10,203 points.

Gas rising sharply

At the same time, there is a sharp rise in the price of gas. At the start, prices rose to 74 euros per megawatt hour, and then settled at around 70 euros.

In Amsterdam, the European reference market, TTF contracts recorded an increase of 26.6%, driven by the worsening of tensions in the Middle Eastern area.

A scenario that once again highlights the vulnerability of energy and financial markets to geopolitical crises.
