Matteo Lettieri doesn’t fit. And he clears away doubts, uncertainties and “rumors” about his resignation from the position of provincial secretary of the Democratic Party. After the vote in the provincial elections, the politician remained silent even with respect to the repeated rumors about his renunciation of office. A silence that he now breaks as he prepares to face the party assembly which will probably be convened after the Easter holidays.
«I have not tendered my resignation» he states «and there is no official act to this effect and my commitment within the party continues regularly». Case closed. At least for the moment. The Dems will have to regain unity to prepare for the next municipal elections which will concern important centers in our province such as San Giovanni in Fiore and Castrovillari. A unit on which Lettieri works even though in recent months it has been the subject of a motion of no confidence signed by some of the members of the provincial assembly. However, the balance of power within the party seems to have changed since that initiative.
In the coming weeks we will better understand how the situation will evolve. The clear affirmation of “No” to the justice reform recorded in the Cosentino has re-motivated the entire center-left coalition which looks to the near future with greater optimism.
In the capital city, where there will be voting next year, the Democratic Party has replaced the resigning Francesco Alimena with Francesco Graziadio. This is a passage of no small importance in the context of internal balances.
