Jorge Martin returns to success in MotoGP and does so by winning the Sprint Race of the Grand Prix of the Americas. On the Austin circuit, the Aprilia rider made a decisive comeback, overtaking Francesco Bagnaia on the last lap.

The duel between the two characterized the race right from the start, with Bagnaia starting strong and leading from the first lap, before giving in at the end under the pressure of the Spaniard.

Decisive overtaking and podium

Martin built the success lap after lap, finding the winning overtaking at the key moment of the race. Behind him Bagnaia closes, while Pedro Acosta on Ktm takes the third step of the podium.

With this result, Martin also becomes the new championship leader, one point ahead of Marco Bezzecchi.

Falls and twists

The Sprint was marred by several major crashes. During the first lap, Marc Marquez and Fabio Di Giannantonio ended up on the ground after the Spaniard braked to the limit and lost the front end, also involving the Italian.

Three laps from the end, when he was in second position, Bezzecchi also crashed, thus losing significant points in the fight for the top of the championship.

The top ten

At the foot of the podium are Enea Bastianini (Ktm Tech3) and Alex Marquez (Ducati Gresini), fourth and fifth respectively.

Completing the top ten are Luca Marini (Honda), Ai Ogura (Aprilia Trackhouse), Raul Fernandez (Aprilia Trackhouse), Johann Zarco (Honda LCR) and Fermin Aldeguer (Ducati Gresini).
