The State Police checks continue unabated as part of the “Safe school trips” initiative, the result of collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Merit. The objective is to guarantee high and safe standards for the transport of students during educational trips and field trips, preventing risk situations before departure. The Scalea Traffic Police patrols in particular are intensifying checks in the area of competence at the request of schools. The checks concern not only the technical conditions of the vehicles – and therefore tyres, brakes, lighting devices, emergency exits and mandatory equipment – but also the suitability of the drivers, with particular attention to compliance with the regulations on driving times and rest. These critical issues prevented the vehicle from leaving, avoiding potential risks for the students.
