Merenda case, Cannizzaro’s “no” shakes the center-right in Reggio: “Galati stop the operation”

With a video published on his social channels, Francesco Cannizzaro, deputy of Forza Italia and next candidate in the municipal elections of Reggio Calabria, intervenes on the candidacy of the municipal councilor Massimiliano Merenda, who has approached Noi Moderati. “I thank Merenda, I don’t have the pleasure of knowing him personally, but I know how to be an extraordinarily good person and also very capable”, says Cannizzaro. “I too, in my capacity as regional secretary of Forza Italia, welcomed in unsuspecting times people who previously perhaps thought differently from me. But the timing was right. Twenty days after the presentation of the lists this thing cannot be done, simply for reasons of expediency”. The Italian MP explains that he contacted Pino Galati directly to ask to stop the operation. “I just called Pino Galati, who is the leader of Noi Moderati Calabria, and I asked him to be kind enough not to accept this candidacy”, he adds.
