The crisis continues to crack the productive fabric of Calabria which risks slipping into one of the darkest folds in the history of the last fifty years. Local entrepreneurship, already severely desecrated in the last six years by the health lockdowns in the two-year period of the pandemic and subsequently by the consequences of the conflict in Ukraine and the introduction of American tariffs, now floats in the middle ground between the risk of energy lockdowns and the specter of never being able to start again. Yet, the data from the Istat report promised an encouraging future in Italy and the South before the start of the war in the Middle East.
And in Calabria? Here the numbers tell a story that has never been linear. The blood that flows under the chapped skin of this land is always warm but it is a blood that generates a new world every day by manipulating panoramas of cities and suburbs, within a trend “that must be read without illusions”, as claimed by Benedetto Di Iacovo, national leader of the Confial union and historic guide of the regional Commission for the emergence of irregular work.
