The night in southern Lebanon was marked by a new and violent wave of Israeli air attacks, which caused at least 11 deaths and numerous injuries. The clash between the IDF (Israel Defense Forces) and the militias active in the south of the country continues to intensify, hitting several civilian locations hard.
According to what was reported by the Lebanese news agency Nna, the heaviest toll was recorded in two main centres: in Maaroub six people were killed in an attack that targeted an entire family, in Qana, a place sadly known for past conflicts, the new raids caused another five victims.
The national agency also reported attacks in several other areas of the south, confirming the presence of numerous injured people transported to local hospitals.
On the other side of the border, the Israeli military justified the night-time operation as a necessary preventative measure. The IDF has in fact announced that it has identified and neutralized a direct threat in the Jouaiyya area. “During the night, a rocket launcher was spotted ready to hit Israeli territory. Shortly afterwards, the target was hit and destroyed, foiling the launch before it could be carried out”, reads the official statement.
