The tragic outcome of the violent clash that occurred on the evening of Friday 17 April inside the Fiego tunnel, in the San Fili area, is further aggravated. The newborn born in an emergency during the night to the pregnant woman involved in the road accident that claimed the lives of nineteen-year-old Luca Oliva and forty-six-year-old Mariano Moretti, both residents of Marano Marchesato, has died in Cosenza hospital.
The drama of the newborn
The young mother, in her 34th week of pregnancy, was in the car that collided with that of the victims. The newborn was fighting between life and death after doctors attempted to save her tonight by performing a caesarean section. The little girl was born weighing just two kilograms and suffered numerous serious skull injuries during the accident, despite being in her mother’s womb. Unfortunately, despite every effort made by the doctors to save her, the little girl passed away this afternoon shortly after 3.30pm.
The investigation
The Cosenza Prosecutor’s Office opened a file on the accident and ordered an autopsy on the bodies of the victims, both residents of Marano Marchesato, including toxicological tests.
