The trial of EG, originally from Bianchi, accused of a series of crimes committed against his ex-partner, has concluded after almost six years. The Cosenza court sentenced him to 1 year and 9 months in prison, with a suspended sentence, but excluded the crime of stalking.
The facts of 2019
The story dates back to 2019, when the woman turned to the judicial authorities reporting threats and pressure to force her to resume the relationship. According to the accusation, the man also made abusive access to the victim’s Facebook and Telegram profiles, preventing her from using them and acquiring her private correspondence.
Among the complaints also the impersonation, for having sent messages to third parties posing as the woman with the aim of denigrating her, as well as other episodes linked to the illicit use of her accounts.
The court’s decision
At the end of the hearing, after requests from the public prosecutor, the civil party – represented by the lawyer Aldo Ferraro – and the defense of the accused – lawyer Federica Mauro -, the judges held the man responsible for the crimes of attempted private violence, unauthorized access to computer systems, illicit acquisition of correspondence, impersonation and alteration of things subject to seizure.
However, the crime of stalking was excluded, as the necessary elements were not found. Compensation for damages in favor of the injured person is also ordered, to be quantified separately. The reasons for the sentence will be filed within 45 days.
