Carlos Alcaraz remains in doubt for Roland Garros. The Spanish tennis player explained that the upcoming tests on his right wrist will be decisive in determining his participation in the Paris tournament, scheduled from 24 May to 6 June.

The world number 2 withdrew from the Barcelona tournament after an injury suffered in the first round and subsequently withdrew from Madrid too. «We are trying to do everything possible to make this exam go well – Alcaraz told TVE – I am trying to be very patient. In the next few days we will carry out further checks and see how the situation evolves.”

Caution on the return

The tennis player underlined the importance of not rushing recovery times: “I prefer to return a little later but in excellent shape rather than return early without feeling well.”

Alcaraz also looks to the long term: «I have a long career ahead of me and forcing a return to Roland Garros could damage me in future tournaments. These are situations that happen in professional tennis and you have to accept them. I have to recover as best I can to avoid consequences in the future.”
