The Calabria Region welcomes with satisfaction the approval of the Internal Areas Strategies as part of the SNAI 2021/2027 programming, approved during the session of the Control Room for the development of internal areas, which took place on 14 April at Palazzo Chigi.

Among the 22 approved strategies out of a total of 43 selected for national co-financing, there are the two proposals from the Calabria Region: the Aspromonte Tyrrhenian Side Area and the Alto Jonio Cosentino Area.

Each Area is allocated a financial allocation of 12 million euros. The approval constitutes the first milestone towards the subsequent phases of implementation of the interventions for the benefit of the territories, marking the start of an operational phase aimed at strengthening them.

The strategies developed are based on an integrated vision of development that enhances cultural, environmental and identity heritage, promoting models of sustainable tourism, the consolidation of local supply chains and creative craftsmanship, as well as innovation through the digital transition and the strengthening of essential services.

The results achieved are the result of synergistic work between the Agriculture department and the municipalities involved, represented by the mayors, who contributed significantly to the construction of shared strategies consistent with the needs of the territories.

In this regard, the regional councilor for Agriculture, Gianluca Gallo, underlines how “the approval of the Internal Areas Strategies marks a passage of great institutional and programmatic importance for Calabria, the result of work shared with the territories and with the mayors, who have demonstrated vision and a strong sense of responsibility despite the complexity of the path and the limited timescales. It is now essential to proceed quickly in the implementation phase, so that the available resources are translated into interventions and opportunities for the communities interested.”
