It will be a May 1st dedicated to turning the spotlight on quality work and the dignity of the worker, promoted by the confederal trade unions CGIL, CISL and UIL in Calabria. The theater of reflection on labor issues will be the Port of Gioia Tauro, a strategic hub for transshipment in the Mediterranean, whose impact on the regional economy, however, is lower than its enormous potential. The appointment is at 9.30 am, at the entrance to the Customs Gate (in the industrial area of San Ferdinando).
The priorities: Security, Rights and Development
Safety at work, plans for sustainable development, workers’ rights and dignity, but also attention to social issues that undermine the liveability of Calabria: healthcare, infrastructure and transport, protection of citizens from hydrogeological risk. Issues that inevitably intersect with the right to work and safety.
The interventions of the Regional Secretaries
From the stage, the Calabrian general secretaries of CGIL, CISL and UIL will speak, respectively Gianfranco Trotta, Giuseppe Lavia and Mariaelena Senese.
