The Provincial Command of the Guardia di Finanza of Cosenza has further intensified the economic control services of the territory, with particular attention to the fight against illicit trafficking, including that of narcotic substances.
In this context, along State Road 18, the financiers of the Scalea Tenenza and the Cetraro Tenenza, following checks on cars in transit, intercepted a drug courier assisted by two further cars.
The control of the vehicles, which took place in the Cetraro area, made it possible to find and seize a total of over 8 kg of hashish, divided into 80 blocks, hidden in a specially created compartment, as well as the vehicle used for transport.
According to initial estimates, the value of the narcotic, which would have allowed the packaging of a large number of doses destined for the local and national market, amounts to around one hundred thousand euros.
The investigative activities developed by the Fiamme Gialle of Cosenza themselves, with the coordination of the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Paola directed by the Chief Prosecutor Domenico Fiordalisi, allowed the identification and arrest of the courier in flagrante delicto and the release of three further subjects.
The activity, which dealt a heavy blow to local criminal organizations, is part of a broader and more detailed strategy of the Guardia di Finanza, aimed at combating drug trafficking, to protect public health.
