In view of the May Day celebrations, the popular and intense show was staged at the former Minimi convent “See you tonight – The victims of work” by Mike Ricci and Massimo Canneti (co-authors of the texts) with Daniela Bertini, Massimo Canneti and Monica Innocenti directed by Ricci. The event was hosted as part of the project Born from a choice, promoted by the municipal administration led by the mayor Vittorio Zito and gave voice on the scene, through very touching monologues inspired by true events, to the thousands of workers who leave their homes every year in Italy to go to work, and never return, restoring their dignity and memory.
A drama also analyzed in light of the precariousness and exploitation of workers on construction sites, factories, fields and the lack of investment in health and safety by employers, which offered incisive food for thought to spectators, accompanying them to also consider the point of view of the victims’ families and labor inspectors. “I believe the silence of the room was a demonstration of how much the show managed to convey the drama that every day fills news programs and newspaper pages and destroys many families”, commented the Councilor for Culture Rossella Scherl, thanking the authors and protagonists. “I think it’s not an easy show, in fact it’s quite hard. We tried to tell the reality with scenes inspired by real or very plausible events, adapting the names, however, unfortunately, that’s what happens”, declared director Ricci for his part at the end of the performance, thanking the audience and the Municipality for their hospitality.
