The stretch of the SP 45 “Quattro Masse”, at km 10+500, becomes practicable again without limitations.
The Metropolitan City of Messina has completed the consolidation and restoration works on the roadway which became necessary following the subsidence which affected the roadway in the Massa S. Nicola area.
The works carried out involved the containment of the damaged front, the stabilization of the affected area and the restoration of the safety conditions of the road platform, allowing full functionality to be restored to an essential connection for the mobility of the hill communities, workers, residents and emergency vehicles.
With the completion of the interventions at km 10+500, the ordinance which prohibited the transit of vehicles with a mass exceeding 3.5 tonnes was revoked, thus restoring free circulation in the affected section.
However, the limitations remain exclusively in the section falling at km 10+700, where further safety works are being completed. In this area, the alternating one-way system regulated by a traffic light system remains active and the transit of vehicles with a mass exceeding 3.5 tonnes is prohibited, to guarantee traffic safety during the completion of the works.
“The restoration of full traffic at km 10+500 represents an important result for the viability of hilly communities and for the safety of road users. The final interventions remain underway in the section at km 10+700, where traffic regulation remains temporarily until the works are completed. We will continue to carefully monitor the maintenance and safety of the area’s road network”.
