Purification is the latest electoral battleground. In the hottest days surrounding the vote on 24 and 25 May, sparks fly between Battaglia and Cannizzaro, after the latter – centre-right candidate for mayor – announced, supported by minister Gioberto Pichetto Fratin, the allocation of a further 75 million which brings the total package for the Reggio plants to 150. Yesterday, less than 24 hours later, the response arrived from the centre-left candidate who evidently wants to dot the “i’s”. «The 150 million euros referred to by the Honorable Cannizzaro are resources allocated since 2016 and assigned to the structure of the single commissioner for purification. Evidently there is little clarity on skills and procedures, he is poorly informed. And this risks generating confusion in public opinion”, says Battaglia.
