Local Police meetings continue in schools as part of the “Safe Schools” project of the Urban Security Fund of the Ministry of the Interior, relating to “Prevention activities on the use of narcotic substances”.
With the precious collaboration of the Calabrian Solidarity Centre, the SerD of the ASP of Catanzaro and the Zarapoti Società Cooperativa Sociale, meetings were held with the students at the “E. Scalfaro” State Industrial Technical Institute, the “G. De Nobili” socio-psycho-pedagogical-linguistic high school and the eighth grade students of the “Rodari” school were received at the Headquarters.
The meetings are held in the form of dialogue and in such a way as to make the children feel at ease. In particular, we tried to make people understand that during adolescence the brain is still forming and the use of drugs interferes with normal cognitive development. Prevention is of fundamental importance and the commander of the Local Police Amedeo Cardamone, Dr. Claudio Falbo and the young people of the Calabrian Solidarity Centre, Dr. Carla Sorrentino of the SerD and the President of the Zarapoti Cooperative responsible for the “Street Unit” Service Dr. Ampelio Anfosso.
“Listening to the various observations of the students, all attentive, interested, responsible – said Commander Cardamone – it emerged that the problem of drug use is very acute. The students were given a booklet from the Department for Anti-Drug Policies of the Ministry of the Interior, which the Local Police had printed, to provide them with more precise information on the various types of drugs. The cycle of meetings will end next week with other appointments in the presence of the students and certainly for the next school year Other similar initiatives will be planned.”
