A routine check on the street turned into a house raid that uncovered a real drug storage and packaging base. The carabinieri of the Bordonaro station, together with colleagues from the Operational Unit of the Messina Sud Company, arrested a 51-year-old man from Messina, already known to the police, on charges of possession for the purpose of dealing narcotic substances.

The operation was launched as part of the targeted services to combat the drug market arranged in the southern suburbs of the city of the Strait.

The street check and the house search

The military intercepted the 51-year-old during a patrol. Subjected to an initial check, the man was found in possession of 6.5 grams of marijuana, a quantity that prompted the police to deepen their investigations by extending the inspection to his home.

The subsequent house search confirmed the investigators’ suspicions. Tucked between the living room and bedroom, an assortment of substances has popped up ready to hit the retail market:

Additional 49 grams of marijuana;

12 grams of hashish;

About 2 grams of cocaine;

Various material for weighing and packaging doses;

480 euros in cash, seized because it was believed to be the proceeds of the illicit activity.

House arrest and RIS analysis

All material and drugs were seized. The 51-year-old was declared under arrest and, upon order of the judicial authorities, confined to his home awaiting being judged in a very direct procedure.

The seized narcotic samples will now be transferred to the Carabinieri laboratories of the RIS of Messina for toxicological tests aimed at establishing the degree of purity and the number of obtainable doses.
