Jasmine Paolini will not take part in the doubles tournament at Roland Garros and will therefore not be able to defend the title she won a year ago together with Sara Errani.
The decision was made due to a slight problem with her foot which pushed the Tuscan tennis player to focus exclusively on the singles tournament.
Errani will play with Lilli Tagger
Paolini’s absence therefore frees Sara Errani, who will take part in the doubles paired with the young Austrian Lilli Tagger.
Thus, the possibility of defending the title won in the last edition of the Parisian Slam disappears for the Italian couple.
Forfeit also by Arthur Fils
In the men’s tournament, however, comes the withdrawal of the Frenchman Arthur Fils, number 19 in the ATP ranking, already forced to abandon the Italian Internationals due to a hip problem.
“I don’t want to take risks, I will work to try to be ready to play on grass,” explained the French tennis player in the press conference.
Fils, semi-finalist this season at the Masters 1000 in Miami and Madrid and winner of the ATP 500 in Barcelona, was supposed to face Swiss Stan Wawrinka, Roland Garros champion in 2015, in the first round.
