Yet another serious episode of violence in the Arghillà prison in Reggio, this time culminating in the destruction of the technical equipment intended for telemedicine and healthcare. The inmates’ guarantor Giovanna Russo speaks of an “fact of exceptional institutional gravity”, according to which “it is not just a question of damage to healthcare instruments but of a direct attack on the possibility of guaranteeing care, assistance, dignity and health protection within a penitentiary institution already profoundly marked by structural, organizational and security critical issues which have been awaiting concrete responses for too long”.
