When there are only three sections left at the end of the counting for the votes assigned to the mayoral candidates and the lists, here is the probable division of the seats in the city council.
Federico Basile’s team, which once again obtained the majority prize, received 20 seats, this time entirely the prerogative of his party (in 2022 there was a “competition” from the League): 7 seats on the South calls North list, 4 on the Basile Mayor list, 3 each on the Messina Protagonista, Federico per Messina and Amo Messina lists. The Free and Strong list is out of the picture.
In the opposition, in addition to the seat that rightfully belongs to Marcello Scurria as the first of the non-elected mayoral candidates, this is the probable subdivision: 3 seats for the Pd, 2 for Fratelli d’Italia, 2 for the Scurria Mayor list, certainly 2 for Popolari and Autonomisti and 1 for the League. One last seat is “dangled” between the League and the Brothers of Italy.
All provisional data, yet to be made official, considering that around 1,600 votes are still missing in the three sections that have not yet been calculated.
