The Sacal Group closes 2025 with unprecedented results and consolidates the strategic role of the Calabrian Airport System in the economic development and mobility of the region. During the Shareholders’ Meeting, the sole director of Sacal, Marco Franchini, submitted the 2025 financial statements of the management company of the Lamezia Terme, Crotone and Reggio Calabria airports for approval, highlighting the positive economic and operational performances: the Group archives the accounting document with the ratification of the shareholders present and a profit of 5,460,199 euros, “confirming the solidity of the growth path undertaken in recent years”.
The boom in passenger traffic: Calabria beats Europe
In a national panorama which records an increase in passenger traffic of 5%, the Calabrian Airport System records an increase of 21% compared to 2024, clearly exceeding the European average for the sector, which stands at +4.4%. The growth involved all three airports, “as evidence – it is written in a note – of a structural strengthening of the demand for air transport to and from Calabria”.
The data of the three airports: exploits of Reggio Calabria and Crotone
Lamezia airport confirms itself as the main regional hub, closing 2025 with 3,049,594 passengers, up 12% compared to 2024. The development path of Crotone airport also continues, reaching 340,286 passengers, with an increase of 25%. Excellent results also for Reggio Calabria which almost reached one million passengers with 977,984 transits and a growth of 56.7%. Crucial for these results, Sacal reports, “was the strategic strengthening of the connection offer and the significant improvement in national and international connectivity”.
The comment of the Sole Director Marco Franchini
«These results, which are anything but predictable – comments Franchini – are the result of authentic teamwork, destined to consolidate over time also through choices that have acted on cost containment and increased profitability».
