It’s a frankly incomprehensible attitude. And also unjustifiable because it concerns undue and undeserved personal insults.” This was stated by the deputy group leader of the Brothers of Italy in the Chamber Alfredo Antoniozzi. The parliamentarian refers to Carlo Calenda’s interview with Corriere della Sera in which he states «I have never seen Cannizzaro, he came from Forza Italia. The scenes he made were unseemly, and since he got 65%, perhaps I was wrong.”
«I have always had respect for Senator Calenda – continues the Fdi exponent – but in this circumstance I don’t think there is room to understand his position. Cannizzaro has been a member of parliament for years. He is an imaginative politician but he does not lack seriousness and commitment. To say, “I didn’t know him after I supported him is a statement that no one can understand. As well as, as a political leader, carrying forward a narrative of Cannizzaro that is far from reality.”
