The “Work Calls” initiative, promoted by the Calabria Region and hosted by the Catanzaro Exhibition Center from 26 to 28 May, also saw the Carabinieri as protagonist. Three days in which Catanzaro became the capital of opportunities, a meeting place between institutions, young people, businesses and citizens, dedicated to the professional future and the construction of growth paths.
The Provincial Command of Catanzaro set up a stand which was a great success, attracting the attention of over a thousand visitors. Students, families, professionals and the curious were able to get to know the world of the Carabinieri, its functions and its many job opportunities up close.
The exhibition space highlighted historical and operational uniforms, symbols of tradition, discipline, identity and efficiency. At the same time, cutting-edge tools and technologies used daily to ensure safety and legality were also shown, such as vehicles, equipment and scientific investigation tools. From Alfa Romeo Tonale patrols, to Ducati motorbikes (vehicles used for emergency response) up to the special devices used in investigative activities and in the riskiest interventions, such as those of the bomb squad.
The Carabinieri spoke with the young visitors, answered questions, recounted operational experiences and explained how the force represents not only a security garrison, but also a solid, qualified and full of prospects professional choice.
Officers and non-commissioned officers serving in the province of Catanzaro sat down to talk with the boys. They explained that there are two main possibilities for enlistment. One is to graduate and immediately apply to aspire to become an Academy Officer or a Carabinieri Marshal or more simply a Carabiniere. In the first two cases, at the end of the training course, a degree is obtained. The second perspective is to orient the choice of a university path based on the numerous opportunities offered by the Carabinieri for those in possession of a degree. This is the case for the positions available for Forestry Officers or for Technical Officers (doctors, veterinarians, pharmacists, chemists, psychologists, administrators, biologists, physicists). Some of these figures, for example, actually work at the RIS. (the competitions area of the website www.carabinieri.it was illustrated to the students).
Participation in the event thus made it possible both to enhance the daily commitment of the military in the area and to show young people that the Carabinieri is a dynamic, modern and constantly evolving reality. Joining the Army means “Serving the State” with dedication and a sense of duty, but also growing professionally through highly qualified training courses. In these three days, the dialogue with young people and with the territory was further consolidated, with the awareness that the future of safety also passes through the ability to attract new energy, new skills and new motivations.
Participation in the initiative confirms once again the Army’s desire to be ever closer to the population, not only in the protection of security, but also in the promotion of culture, training and opportunities.
