The finish line is getting closer and closer. The days and hours pass and the mayor Francesco Cannizzaro is ever closer to announcing the new municipal council that will have to accompany him in the government of Reggio. As time passes, the anticipation also grows and the names of the possible councilors (the team will be made up of nine councilors, including the deputy mayor, and at least four women) multiply. Nothing leaks from Palazzo San Giorgio. Maximum confidentiality is the rule and yet rumors multiply and spread through the city streets at the speed of sound. The most insistent, those who have crossed the line and resist despite more or less credible denials, are three and all outside the perimeter of the parties.
A very popular name at the moment is that of the engineer. Domenico Vecchio, president of Confindustria Reggio and always very close to Forza Italia and the Hon. Francesco Cannizzaro as well as the Hon. Giovanni Arruzzolo. For him there is talk of a prestigious position: deputy mayor or councilor for public works. Contacted by telephone, the number 1 of Reggio’s industrialists denied his possible entry into the council: «You’re telling me – he answered the phone –. I didn’t speak to Cannizzaro.” However, he then let slip a little cry: “I have a thousand commitments and I don’t know what to do but if I had to be useful to the city…”. In short, a “sacrifice” to relaunch Reggio. Vecchio would be ready to do so and would also have spoken about the topic with the regional leaders of Confindustria.
Another key role of the Council is the budget councilor and for this position the chosen one would be the former president of the Order of Accountants Stefano Poeta.
