There are no significant updates on the project of the extraordinary government commissioner for overcoming the conditions of degradation of the suburbs relating to the construction of the new solidarity farm in San Ferdinando, but the Region has already drawn the line on the future of migrant hospitality in the Gioia Tauro plain. The lines are contained in the response to the question presented by the regional councilor of the Democratic Party, Giuseppe Ranuccio.
The regional councilor for social policies, Pasqualina Straface, in relation to the dismantling activities, recalls that «the presence inside the San Ferdinando tent city does not constitute a static data, but rather a dynamic one, as it is strictly correlated to the seasonal trend of agricultural activities and the consequent labor flows. For this reason – he continues – it is not possible to identify in advance a definitive and invariable number of recipients of the transfer and taking charge measures.
