It was a weekend to remember for the Subbuteo Club Reggio Calabria, absolute protagonist of the Italian Individual Table Football Championships, played at the Federal Center of Subbuteoland in Reggio Emilia, and of the Italian Youth Championships staged at the Pala Molza in Modena.

Marco Averna on the roof of Italy: historic encore in the Under 12s

The cover can only be dedicated to Marco Averna, who won the title of Italian Under 12 Champion for the second consecutive year, confirming himself as the absolute point of reference of the category not only in Italy, but also internationally.

A success that represents yet another stage in a simply extraordinary season. The young talent from Reggio had already enriched his palmarès with the victory of the Under 12 Italian Cup, with numerous successes in the main national tournaments and above all with two prestigious FISTF Majors won abroad: that of Frameries, in Belgium, and that of Mallorca, in Spain. Results that allow him to permanently occupy the top of the national and world rankings in the category, a position he has maintained for two consecutive years now.

Confirmation of the Italian title certifies a superiority built through talent, application, competitive maturity and continuity of performance. It is no longer about the promise of the Italian movement: Marco Averna is today the most important reality in world Under 12 table football.

Pasquale Citrigno comes close to the title in the Veteran Championship

But the satisfactions for the Strait club don’t end here. In fact, a splendid second place in the Italian Veteran Championship was achieved in Reggio Emilia for Pasquale Citrigno, protagonist of a very high level journey which culminated with the final against the very strong Gianfranco Calonico from Sanremo, already Italian and world champion in the category.

The final was fought and balanced until the last minutes, with Citrigno able to hold his own against one of the greatest specialists in the category before surrendering with a score of 2-1.

A result that nevertheless represents well-deserved recognition for an athlete who has experienced impressive growth in the last two years. Citrigno was in fact the protagonist of a series of national successes which consolidated his role among the best Italian players in the Veteran category. His contribution to the team results of the Subbuteo Club Reggio Calabria was also fundamental: first the historic promotion to Serie B obtained last season, then the decisive participation in the conquest of salvation in the championship just concluded.

The second place in the Italian flag therefore takes on a particular meaning, because it definitively certifies the leap in quality made by an athlete who, thanks to commitment, experience and continuity, has managed to reach the national elite.

The Subbuteo Club Reggio Calabria at the national top

The results obtained between Modena and Reggio Emilia confirm once again the excellent work carried out by the Subbuteo Club Reggio Calabria, capable of training young champions and enhancing expert athletes, building an increasingly competitive reality in the Italian panorama.

Marco Averna’s second tricolor and the splendid final reached by Pasquale Citrigno represent two sides of the same coin: the present and the future of a club that continues to grow, win and bring the name of Reggio Calabria to the top of national and international table football.
