A 10 million euro interport serving the port and the completion of the “cold ironing” project along the Levante quay are among the main interventions contained in the 2026-2028 three-year operational plan approved by the Management Committee of the Port System Authority of the Southern Tyrrhenian and Ionian Seas, chaired by Paolo Piacenza. The strategic document defines directions, objectives and priority interventions for the consolidation of the competitiveness of the ports of Gioia Tauro, Corigliano Calabro, Crotone, Vibo Valentia and Palmi.
Opening the proceedings, President Piacenza underlined how the Plan represents the instrument through which the Authority directs its strategic choices to accompany the infrastructural, logistical and economic growth of the ports of its competence. «Through this tool – he declared – we define concrete, sustainable and coherent programming with the challenges that the maritime and logistics sector will be called upon to face in the coming years. Our vision is that of a port system that is increasingly integrated with national and European logistics networks, capable of combining operational efficiency, innovation and environmental sustainability, consolidating the role of Gioia Tauro as a reference hub for the Mediterranean and enhancing, at the same time, the specificities and potential of the other ports in the system”.
