The main draw for Wimbledon has been drawn, the third Slam of the season on London grass with seven Italians at the start. Jannik Sinner, reigning champion and number 1 seed, will debut with the Serbian Miomir Kecmanovic; he has a possible third round with the Peruvian Ignacio Buse, an eighth with Casper Ruud or Luciano Darderi and a possible quarterfinal with Daniil Medvedev. Also in his half of the draw are Felix Auger-Aliassime and Novak Djokovic.
Flavio Cobolli, ninth seeded player and fresh from the Roland Garros final, will immediately face the Argentine Mariano Navone. Luciano Darderi, number 14 in the tournament, will make his debut against the American Ethan Quinn. So do the other Italians: Matteo Arnaldi (32)-Quentin Halys (Fra); Lorenzo Sonego-Tomas Martiun Etcheverry (Arg); Mattia Bellucci-Zachary Svajda (USA); Matteo Berrettini-Stan Wawrinka.
In the feminine
In the women’s category, there are three Italian players competing: Jasmine Paolini, finalist in 2024, and Tyra Grant, promoted from the qualifiers to her first Major main draw, were included in the lower part of the draw, the one presided over by the 2022 champion Elena Rybakina, while Elisabetta Cocciaretto ended up in the upper part of the draw, the one presided over by the queen of world tennis Aryna Sabalenka. The first to take the field will be Cocciaretto, expected on Monday by the Chinese Xinyu Wang; on Tuesday it will instead be the turn of Paolini, seeded number 13, who will face the American Robin Montgomery (USA), and Grant, engaged against the British Katie Boulter.
