A sperm whale of about fifteen meters was spotted, now lifeless, adrift and in an advanced state of decomposition, by some boaters off the island of Salina, in the Aeolian sea.
Once the report was made, accompanied by a video, the research began which involved the Maritime Authority and the volunteers of the associations that deal with the protection and safeguarding of the island’s fish fauna, first of all, Filicudi wildlife conservation which, in recent times, has photographed, identified and registered several sperm whales in transit in the Aeolian waters.
The appeal has been renewed to all those sailing in the archipelago to report a further sighting and to provide the coordinates to facilitate identification. The recovery will allow us to identify the causes that led to the death of the large cetacean.
