The conclusion of the services conference marks a decisive stage for the future of the port of Diamante. Mayor Achille Ordine announced the result during a live Facebook broadcast, defining the measure as a historic moment for the city after a long and complex journey.
The green light now allows us to start the tender procedures for the contracting of the works, paving the way for the creation of an infrastructure considered strategic for the economic, tourism and employment development of the entire Riviera dei Cedri.
«A dream awaited for over forty years»
“It has not been an easy journey,” declared Ordine, recalling the work carried out in recent years to reach the conclusion of the services conference. «It is not easy to believe in something that to many seems like a utopia, but this result completely and positively overturns the situation, giving great awareness and confidence in the realization of this work».
For the Diamante community, the port represents a project that has been awaited for over forty years and destined, according to the municipal administration, to have a significant impact on the growth prospects of the area.
The mayor’s thanks to the institutions
In his speech, the mayor thanked the President of the Region Roberto Occhiuto and the Regional Council, the regional departments of Public Works and Infrastructure, the engineers Claudio Moroni, Francesco Tarsia, Roberto Luigi Ruffolo and the person in charge of the procedure, the engineer Cristian Scarcelli, for the work carried out during the administrative process.
A thought was also addressed to the regional councilor Angelo Brutto, to Professor Nicola Leone, former rector of the University of Calabria, and to the director of the Ministry of the Environment Angelo Presta.
«This is an achievement that does not belong only to Achille Ordine and this administration, but belongs to all of Diamante and to all the people of Diamante. It is a result that we must continue to achieve together, with unity and a sense of responsibility”, concluded the mayor.
