Sinner is increasingly number one in the world. After his second victory at Wimbledon, the Italian tennis player today begins his 80th week at the top of the ATP ranking: at 13,450 points, he is almost 5,000 points behind Zverev, who rose to second place in the rankings after winning Roland Garros and reaching the final on London grass. For the German it is the best result ever: he therefore overtook Carlos Alcaraz, now in third position, who has been out of action since April due to a wrist problem. Although the return date is not yet official, the Spaniard will try to return to the court in view of the US Open in September.

The Masters 1,000 in Cincinnati in mid-August could be an opportunity, but everything will depend on the reaction of the wrist. Given the gap in points with second and third positions, Sinner will remain number one in the world until the Monday following the US Open final. On that date it will be 88 weeks at the top of the rankings: thus approaching Agassi’s 101 weeks, ninth in this ranking.
