After the checks in Tropea, a massive territorial control operation involved Vibo Valentia, in particular the Marina hamlet and the municipality of Pizzo, all places characterized in this period by a notable increase in people and also by the holding of public events.
The police have searched the entire area, currently frequented by many tourists, also setting up effective checkpoints. During the activity, conducted by police headquarters personnel and crews from the Central Calabria Crime Prevention department, 269 people were identified, of which 43 were criminally registered, and 121 vehicles were checked. Furthermore, several subjects subjected to restrictive measures were checked.
During the checks, the agents of the General Prevention and Public Relief Office challenged the administrative sanction of a person found in possession of 11.10 grams of marijuana, with consequent reporting to the Administrative Authority and seizure of the substance.
In this context, personnel from the local Flying Squad, with the help of the canine unit of the General Prevention and Public Rescue Office, arrested a man with multiple criminal convictions, currently subjected to the prevention measure of the Special Public Security Surveillance with an obligation to stay, as he was caught in the act of committing the crime of possession for the purpose of dealing drugs. Specifically, following a house search, investigators found, well hidden in various points of the man’s home, several wrappers and blocks of marijuana and hashish, equal to approximately 500 grams.
