One hundred and eighty Iranian MPs have signed a joint statement calling, among other things, for the termination of the memorandum of understanding signed by Tehran and the United States on June 17. This was announced by public television Irib. The appeal does not seem to close negotiations, but supports the need for an ‘ad hoc’ commission to guide them.
In the text, the members of the Majlis call for “retaliation” after the new US attacks, “the end of Islamabad’s agreement with the United States, the creation of a special commission for negotiations, the approval of the law on the management of the Strait of Hormuz and full support for the Armed Forces”.
There are 290 members in the Majilis and therefore the signatories are around 62 percent.
