A large fire, in the southern area of the city of Cosenza, threatened some homes in the Cozzo del Monaco area, in the Diodato district. The flames, fueled by the wind and heat, spread rapidly through the vegetation to the point of touching several properties, making it necessary for emergency services to intervene and to clear some properties. After the inspection carried out by the municipal civil protection official, Alessandro Sangregorio, and by the local police official, Andrea Donato, mayor Franz Caruso signed a contingent and urgent ordinance ordering the immediate eviction of the homes most exposed to risk. The occupants left the buildings until the emergency was over. Firefighters, Civil Protection personnel, Calabria Verde and local police operated on site, engaged in firefighting and making the area safe.
