During the last session of the Regional Council before the summer break, there was also time to deal with rail transport with an eye to high speed. In fact, the Francesco Fortugno chamber approved (always with the authorization for formal coordination) the bipartisan motion which commits the Regional Council «to activate every useful and necessary initiative with regard to Trenitalia SpA in order to increase the number of daily train trips on the Sibaritide-Paola route, guaranteeing homogeneous coverage throughout the entire day, and to remodulate the frequency of passages, paying particular attention to peak time slots and connections with trains long-distance trains (Frecciarossa and Italo) at the Paola station”. An important topic, that of railway connections, often forgotten by regional councilors but this time Elisa Scutellà (M5S), hoped that “while awaiting the decisions of the national government and in particular of the Ministry of Transport Matteo Salvini, we can work so that – she stated – the Sibaritide territory can be better connected with the Tyrrhenian railway line in order to facilitate the movement of the inhabitants of that area”.
