There were moments of fear tonight in the Tyrrhenian town. A Citroen C3 convertible, with a Polish license plate, was engulfed and destroyed by flames in via De Bonis, around 3am, causing thick smoke and an acrid smell and creating quite a few inconveniences for those who, in the middle of the night, were resting in their homes, abruptly awakened by the incident. The flames, probably of malicious origin, suddenly developed from the Citroen and then spread to another car parked a little further on, damaging it too.
The carabinieri from the local station immediately arrived on site, coordinated by the Scalea Company, and the firefighters from the Scalea detachment, who immediately proceeded to implement all the operations necessary to put out the fire and avoid further damage, making the street and the residents safe. The extinguishing operations lasted about two hours.
According to initial reports, the car is owned by a local professional of foreign origin and was parked near her home. Once the fire was put out, the police immediately took action to collect finds and material evidence that could lead to establishing the origin of the fire as soon as possible. While waiting for further and more certain evidence, both the dynamics of the fire and the initial findings carried out on the same car would suggest an arson act.
