«With regard to some articles published yesterday relating to the Bridge over the Strait, the synoptic table of the Superior Council of Public Works shows 361 prescriptions and 77 indications of direction. Which does not mean casting doubt on the feasibility and uniqueness of the project, but rather returning to the process that all major avant-garde works of national interest have followed.” The Ministry of Transport announced this in a note, underlining that “the project, approved and resolved by the Superior Council, did not suffer any interruptions and indeed moved on to the next phase in full compliance with the necessary criteria”.
Bridge over the Strait, comparison with RFI’s Salerno-Reggio Calabria
“An indicative example – continues the note -, always taking into account the worldwide uniqueness of the Bridge project, can be represented by the comparison with other projects relating to ordinary and, in part, similar works, submitted to the opinion of the Superior Council of Public Works, such as lots 1A, 1B and 1C of the Salerno-Reggio Calabria line of RFI. With reference to these interventions, the sum of the related economic frameworks was equal to approximately 7 billion euros, compared of a number of prescriptions formulated by the Council equal to approximately 210. This ratio appears substantially coherent and in line with that which can be deduced from the bridge project submitted for the opinion of the Council itself”.
