Mid-August sold out in Milazzo. The highlight of the summer brought thousands of people to the city’s beaches, with Tono once again the absolute protagonist of the influx on the western coast. From the early hours of the morning the Ngònia beach was filled with bathers and, as the hours passed, the presence became more and more significant, confirming how this part of the coast is now one of the main points of reference for the Milazzo summer. One figure highlights the extent of the movement recorded over the last weekend. Ecocet workers collected 4000 boxes of pizza on the coast (and unfortunately also on the beach) of Ponente. A demanding job that employs at least 7 workers from sunrise with the relevant means but which guarantees a clean beach (except on rare occasions). Certainly a bit of greater civic sense on the part of those who frequent the beach would be in order.
But, speaking of flows, the real novelty this year was the sea. In the Bay of Sant’Antonio there was a presence of over one hundred boats, with numerous boats choosing the body of water in front of the Cape to spend the August holiday. The bay, reachable mainly by sea, represents one of the most evocative destinations on the Capo Milazzo promontory. Just at the beginning of the month the Harbor Office regulated access and then carried out checks by sea. Similar work was done by volunteers from the Marine Protected Area. Always on the weekend, but especially on the day of August, no mooring point within the marine reserve remained free with boaters not only from Milazzo but from all over the province and also from other Sicilian locations who decided to stop in the most beautiful area of the promontory or in Rinella, where the buoys are present.
