An institutional visit created to take stock of one of the most strategic cultural projects in the area, from which however important political reflections destined to spark discussion emerged. The President of the Region, Roberto Occhiuto, arrived in Crotone to take stock of the prospects of Antica Kroton, in a meeting designed for high school students but which saw very few students. And on the sidelines of the meeting with the press he released statements that cannot leave mayor Vincenzo Voce indifferent regarding the balance of local politics and the stability of coalitions. Obviously, the subject of the journalists’ questions was what he thought of the membership of two majority city councilors in Futuro Nazionale. «Even if I don’t follow local politics – said the governor – I can say that as far as I’m concerned, those who are with Vannacci cannot be in a centre-right majority. And whoever leads a center-right majority should put out those who are with Vannacci.” Occhiuto then continued: «If it happened in the Regional Council the next day, the councilors involved would be out of my majority».
While the mayor Vincenzo Voce, after the official news of the entry of Saverio Flotta and Vincenzo Familiari into the far-right party, said he was inclined to an open confrontation, Occhiuto closes down any possible opening. The political perimeter he traced marks a marked distance from certain positions and risks opening up a heated debate among the majority, both at a municipal and regional level.
