The silent heat wave that also pervades the Lamezia summer this year is giving just a few days – or weeks – a break to city politics before we return to work in the commissions (the few truly “living” ones, at least) and, above all, before returning to discuss the future of the city in the chamber. A financial future – on which the ability to face the organisation’s ordinary and extraordinary expenses therefore depends – which, as we know, almost certainly hangs on the thread of a new multi-year rebalancing plan. A plan contested by the opposition, primarily by the centre-left, inconceivable and “crazy” for those who have administered the city in recent years (the former mayor Mascaro, but not many of his old councilors who sit in the chamber today) and reluctantly welcomed even by many of the Murone-led majority.
In the centre-right, as we have seen, the current unknowns are represented by the moderate wing of Giancarlo Nicotera (UDC) which continues to claim autonomy by closing the doors to any possible “diktat”, and then there is the important area of Futuro Nazionale, with two councilors and a councilor in the council, which outside the Lameto borders, as we know, is practically an opposition force at least until the national balance changes. In any case, nothing has yet transpired about the rebalancing plan, except for a few rumors that imagine it spread over at least 15 years.
