The Italian men’s national volleyball team will stop in Reggio Calabria and Messina for the Fipav Cup Men Elite, the penultimate event of the preparation for the 2026 European Championships.

The Azzurri will face Germany on Wednesday 26 August at the PalaCalafiore in Reggio Calabria. The match between Germany and Cuba is scheduled for August 27th in the same facility.

The second part of the tournament will be played at the PalaRescifina in Messina, where Italvolley will meet Cuba on August 28th and Brazil on the 30th. Preparation for the European Championships will end with the collegiate match scheduled for Florence from 3rd to 7th September.

De Giorgi: «I have a lot of faith in the team»

During the press conference to present the match in Reggio Calabria, the technical commissioner Ferdinando De Giorgi, flanked by captain Simone Giannelli, took stock of the work of the Azzurri.

«We are in the second phase of approaching the European Championships. In the first we carried out great physical and technical work in Cervia and Verona. Now we will face important teams, who will provide us with useful information in view of the last part of the preparation in Florence”, explained Ferdinando De Giorgi.

The technical commissioner reiterated his trust in the group: «To stay at the top you have to work harder than the others, not only in quantity but also in quality. I have kids who are hungry, they help each other and send positive signals, both from a technical and character point of view.”
