The industrial area of Rende is preparing to return to its routine: intense traffic, flows of heavy vehicles, daily commuting and – unfortunately – the usual problems. With the end of August and the resumption of production activities, the Lecco and Cutura districts will return to being what they have been for years: a strategic area for the local economy, but marked by degradation accumulated over time and by often insufficient maintenance.
In recent months, however, something has changed. The municipal administration led by mayor Sandro Principe has announced a series of interventions which, it is intended, should mark a change of pace. A path that starts from one fact: the industrial area has been let go for too long, to the point of becoming – as denounced by entrepreneurs in 2025 – “an emblem of degradation”.
The first concrete signal came with the approval of the maxi road plan worth around 4 million euros, an intervention which concerns the extraordinary maintenance and modernization of the road network in industrial areas. Bitumen, making the most compromised sections safe, resurfacing pavements and pedestrian areas: a non-trivial investment, which represents the basis for any relaunch. It is an intervention that does not solve everything, but which has been missing for years. And that, alone, can improve the daily liveability of those who work and pass through the area.
