Nursery schools in Lamezia, controversy mounts over the “delayed” reopening

The controversy continues over the postponed opening of the municipal nursery schools in via Conforti, via Spartivento and via Giovanni XXIII “due to the time required to complete the tender procedure carried out by the Single Procurement Center of Reggio Calabria and the consequent takeover of the new manager”. The affair triggered the dispute between the minority councilor Gennarino Masi (Pd) and the councilor for social policies Mimmo Gianturco. The latter, responding to the opposition exponent’s criticisms, reiterated: «The tender for the management of nursery schools was started with the decision to contract in July 2025 and in February 2026 the tender documents were approved, delegating the completion of the procedure to the Reggina CUC. From that moment the conclusion of the tender was not available to the Municipality of Lamezia which followed the process and waited for the CUC to complete the procedure”
