“We have reached and exceeded all the relevant PNRR targets related to school construction by August 31st”, said the Minister of Education and Merit, Giuseppe Valditara.
“More than 55% of the resources were allocated to the southern regions”
“Exceeding the target on nursery schools for places in the 0-6 year age group is fundamental. An objective that allows us to position ourselves above the Barcelona objectives and over 37% on average in service coverage, counting the PNRR places that will be activated. More than 55% of the resources have been allocated to the Southern Regions. A strategic objective that allows us to improve the educational offer from early childhood and offer concrete help to families, encouraging the participation of women in the labor market and the reconciliation of family and professional life.
The targets of new schools, safety measures, seismic adaptation, energy efficiency, school canteens and gyms were also achieved: a total investment of over 12 billion allocated, of which 3.7 billion of additional national and structural funds, for 11,724 authorized interventions, equal to almost 1/3 of the school building stock.
Strategic objectives achieved thanks to collaboration with local authorities and a great deal of coordination and constant support, but also thanks to the regulatory simplifications that I strongly desired, which have contributed to accelerating and reducing the average duration of public works”.
“We had already reached and exceeded all the targets relating to school and training. I remember the historic result of 7.3% (Invalsi estimate) of school dropout achieved in 2026, exceeding the EU target of 9% set for 2030 and allowing the recovery of 520,000 young people. We enabled the training of over 980 thousand teachers and school staff and activated courses for 3.4 million students, for orientation, STEM training and multilingualism and for 2.6 million students to combat school dropout and overcome territorial gaps. We obtained approximately 41,000 students enrolled in the ITS system, exceeding the PNRR target by approximately 3 times and transformed 156 thousand classrooms into innovative environments.
And now we continue to work with determination for school staff and our students and to invest in the school and their future”, concluded the Minister.
