The Municipality’s crackdown on the wild occupation of public land in the pedestrian area. The director of the Sector, the architect Salvatore Lo Cicero, signed the first two three-day closure orders for two repeat offenders, already sanctioned by the traffic police. For the first financial year the lockout will expire today, while for the second one tomorrow. In the event of a further violation, operators risk having their license permanently revoked.
The measure aims to restore livability to the city centre, transformed in several places into narrow passages inaccessible to strollers or pedestrians. Only very few commercial activities were found to be in compliance with the concessions. There are already measures on the table for five other venues, after the summer raids. The checks will continue thanks to the overtime hours authorized by the Ministry, clearance necessary for the twenty-year financial rebalancing plan to which the organization is subject. At the same time, feedback from ARPA should also arrive. Here the risks for the premises that could be sanctioned are truly serious, because in addition to fines of up to thousands of euros, the obligation for soundproofing could be imposed and criminal charges for disturbing the peace could also be triggered.
