As part of the prevention and protection of public order and safety activities, the Catanzaro Police Chief ordered the detention of a foreign citizen irregularly present on the national territory, in respect of whom the conditions established by current legislation for the execution of the expulsion order were met.
Upon his release, after having served a sentence for aiding and abetting illegal immigration, the man was taken over by the Immigration Office of the Catanzaro Police Headquarters to carry out the checks and procedures required by immigration legislation.
According to what emerged from the investigations, the foreign citizen had already come to the attention of the Police Force as a smuggler, a circumstance which made it necessary to carry out an in-depth examination of his legal and administrative position. Following the investigation conducted by the Immigration Office, the Police Commissioner of Catanzaro ordered the detention of the foreigner as a measure aimed at guaranteeing the effective execution of the expulsion order, as well as to allow the fulfillment of the further obligations required by law, also with reference to the international protection procedure.
The man was then accompanied to the Repatriation Center in Potenza, where he will be held for the time necessary to complete the procedures required by current legislation, in view of the subsequent repatriation.
