Marco Granelli, national president of Confartigianato, returned to the shores of the Strait for the fifth edition of the “Scirubetta” artisanal ice cream village. An irresistible taste appeal for Granelli, who is now at home on the Reggio seafront. «I couldn’t miss the celebration of Italian excellence in the food sector – he states -. In our country there are 9400 ice cream shops, of which 6200 are artisan. In Calabria there are 241 artisan workshops that exclusively produce ice cream. We are talking not only about a good sector, but also about a valid sector from an economic point of view which moves 60 million euros in Calabria alone (1.5 billion in Italy)”.
Confartigianato has proposed to the Meloni government to establish a voluntary brand to further enhance artisanal ice cream. «Creating specifications for ice cream is important for businesses and consumers – confirms Granelli -. We want to enhance the authenticity of the products and processing techniques so that the consumer can distinguish quality ice cream and recognize artisan laboratories. In short, we want to further enhance an Italian product that is also growing a lot abroad.”
Leaving the tasty perimeter of ice cream, what does Granelli ask the Meloni Government for the varied world of artisans?
«I hope and hope that the new Framework Law on the artisan sector will be approved before the end of the year, so we will have the parameters revisited to include joint-stock companies among the artisans and to recognize the artisan’s uniqueness and not just the size of the company».
